Moments after qualifying to the final of the 35th AFCON tournament, host nation head coach Walid Regragui predicted a great finale against Senegal this coming Sunday.
Morocco outshot Nigeria 4-2 in post-match penalties following a grueling goal-less draw in 120 minutes of football at a fully packed Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat city.

Regragui, the architect of the team from the technical docket lauded the players for the job well done.
“The final (against Senegal) will be a good one. These are the two best teams on the continent at the moment. It will be the first time that we shall play in history in the final” Regragui remarked during the post-match press conference.

Recovery:
Playing 120 minutes of explosive football does not leave the bodies the same but with general fatigue.
Regragui asserts they need the best recovery procedure for the players.
“We need a good recovery. We played 120 minutes and the players will need to be at their best to encounter Senegal” he added.


Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou who features for Al Hilal Sports Club in Saudi Arabia was man of the match with commanding display in the 120 minutes as well the two post match penalty saves.
Bounou saved two penalty from Samuel Chimerenka Chukwueze and left Bruno Sopuruchukwu Onyemaechi ().
The tense and dramatic shootout witnessed Neil El Aynaoui, Ben Eliesse Seghir, captain Achraf Hakimi and Youssef En Nesyri score for Morocco to send the fully packed crowd into excitement.

Paul Onuachu and Fisayo Bashiru scored for the Super Eagles.
Only Hamza Igamane had his shot saved by Nigerian goalkeeper Stlanley Nwabali.
The third-place match will be played on Saturday, 17th January 2026 in Casablanca city between Egypt and Nigeria.
Senegal eliminated Egypt 1-0 courtesy of Sadio Mane’s goal.
