In the wake of Nigeria’s loss in the semifinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi sent a clear message to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) notifying that stability should be prioritised.
Speaking at the press conference ahead of the third-place playoff in Cansablanca, Ndidi shared a raw but compassionate defence of head coach Eric Chelle.
As rumours regarding the coach’s future, Ndidi was quick to shut down the talk and murmuring of a managerial change.
“For continuity, I feel like they should keep the coach because he is a wonderful manager,” Ndidi underlined.

“I will tell you that for free, we should make this team a continuity. We should focus because there are so many games to play,” he adds.
Ndidi’s plea comes at a pivotal time for Nigeria. After failing to gain the World Cup ticket and missing the AFCON glory by a small margin, the Super Eagles skipper believes dismantling the current technical structure would be a step backward.
To conclude the bittersweet 2025 AFCON journey, Nigeria is left with one assignment; to fight for the bronze medal against Egypt in Casablanca on Saturday.
