Heathens has confirmed the signing of center Emma Odoi from Jinja Hippos.

Odoi is a product of the rugby program at the Jinja Hippos, rising through the ranks in the Kira Crocs while still only a schoolboy at Jinja SS, to becoming a mainstay in the Hippos midfield.

In his early years at Hippos, he played as scrumhalf, flyhalf, then finally at inside center, making him a complete backline player.

At Heathens, he goes into a midfield that has seen the retirement of Michael Wokorach and the absence of Innocent Gwokto through injury. He joins natural center Norton Ochan, alongside the versatile Michael Amollo.

Odoi isn’t afraid to step into big shoes. At Hippos, he seamlessly slotted in at the center role when the experienced Tawfic Bagalana had a stint abroad.

This transfer once again proves that the Heathens have done their homework on the positions they needed to reinforce after suffering a trophyless season in 2025.

If the speculations of hooker/flanker Jude Jjuuko making the move to the Kyadondo giants hold any water, that would mark an almost complete rebuild, save for the prop position.
