Ahead of their maiden top-flight 15s season, the Kakira Simbas have secured the signature of winger Brighton Bakasa.

The Kakira Simbas are well aware of the task at hand when they kick off their first premiership campaign against Heathens on Saturday, 7th February.

Although facing the most decorated club in Ugandan rugby on the opening weekend may not be ideal, it shall paint a clear picture for the youngsters within the Simbas’ ranks.

Bakasa, who was first sighted in some pictures from one of Kakira’s training sessions, isn’t the only signing made by the eastern Uganda side.

Sources within Kakira have not only confirmed the signing of Bakasa, but also noted that seven new faces, including 2 Kenyans, have been training with the club located within the Kakira Sugar Estate.

The new signings join a relatively young and unknown squad that features standout players like Eighthman Bave Okumu and halfback Dennis Ofwoyroth.

Whether the legendary pair of Paul Masendi, who’d have to assume a coach-player role, and Maxwell Ebonga, who’d have to halt his officiating career, make a comeback is an interesting question that can only be answered when the season starts.
