The tedious journey to Uganda Cup 2025/26 continues and is currently at the stage where the big boys join the party. After a long process involving the non-league and lower division clubs, the round of 64 is when the tournament begins proper.
According to FUFA, a total of 333 registered to take part in this year’s competition.
On Wednesday, the draw for the 52nd edition of the prestigious competition was conducted at Protea Hotel in Kampala. Former Express and KCCA player Umar Ssenoga was the draw conductor.
Holders Vipers SC will start their title defence on the road against Northern Gateway FC from Lira, a team that features in the Northern Regional League.
It should be noted that Vipers SC defeated KCCA FC 2-0 at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba to win their fourth Uganda Cup.
Last year’s runners up and joint record winners KCCA FC have been pitted against St. George Masindi FC, a Kitara regional league team while SC Villa will travel far East to face Pallisa Hospital FC, a team that plays in the fifth division in Pallisa district.
The round of 64 games will be played between 4th -10th February. It should be noted that at this stage, games are played on a one-leg basis and in case of draw after normal time, a penalty shootout determines the winner.
