Entebbe UPPC FC ended the first round of the 2025/26 season on a high, edging KCCA FC 1-0 on Friday at the MTN-Omondi Stadium.
In a hotly contested game, Ambrose Kigozi struck the lone goal, coming at the stroke of halftime to guide the Printers to victory.
Godfrey Walusimbi, one of the assistants of head coach Abdallah Mubiru at Entebbe UPPC was quick to laud the players for perfectly putting executing the plan.
“We are happy that we managed to get three points against a tough opponent in KCCA FC. I want to thank the players for trying to execute our game plan despite a late surge from the home team,“ Walusimbi started.
According to the former Uganda Cranes defender, the plan was to maintain shape and then hit KCCA FC on the break.
“We tried to maintain our shape and if you look at how the goal came, we chose to go for a mid-block, this gave us the chance for a break and there was space behind their defence which we utilized to score.” He added.
The team ends the first round in second place on 30 points, six behind run away leaders Vipers SC. Asked if they envisaged to be in such a position by this time, Walusimbi indicated the first target was to beat relegation.
“As newcomers, our first target was to stay in the League and I believe we are on the right course to do it. But we know, what the squad is capable of doing and hopefully with a few changes in the mid season transfer window, we can become even better especially in terms of squad depth.”
Entebbe UPPC for now will shift focus to the Uganda Cup where they will visit Ombachi Pride FC in Koboko on Friday at the round of 64.
