Kitara FC made a perfect end to the first round of the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season, securing a narrow win over bottom placed Calvary FC at Midigo Primary School Playground on Saturday.

Despite scoring very early in the game through Crispus Asiki, the Royals had to dig deep to hold onto that scoreline and earn a 1-0 win.

The all-important goal for Kitara came in the third minute of the game with Patrick Kaddu laying up Asiku to slot home.

The home side stepped up efforts in pursuit for an equalizer but Kitara were resolute in defending and able to protect their lead.

The result means Kitara end the first round in fifth place on 29 points while Calvary are bottom of the table with four points and yet to win a game.

Kitara have had a start-stop run in the season given the fact that there were very many new signings on the team and perhaps needed jelling.

Coach Wasswa Bossa has been able to find the chemistry along the way thus the improvement in performance.

In the last eight league games, Kitara have won six, drawing once and losing the other. Only Vipers SC have fetched more points in the same period (20 points).

On the other hand, Calvary will have to do wonders in the second round to beat the relegation monster. The League has proved to be tough platform for the Yumhe based outfit.
