- UCU Canons 58-70 Namuwongo Blazers
Namuwongo Blazers finally got underway in the ongoing 2026 National Basketball League.
After losing to City Oilers in the opening game, Nam Blazers responded with a 70-58 victory against UCU Canons in the NBL encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.
Right from the word go, the Blazers showed that they were hungry and badly needed to march away with the bragging rights.
On the other hand, the Canons were out-rebounded (47-45) and made 21 turnovers thus failing to find the right rhythm needed for the game.
The Blazers opened a 9-0 run before the Canons responded. Eventually, the reigning champions took the opening stanza with five points.
With 06:14 minutes on the clock, Alier Jongroor made a layup to level the game 23-23. Eventually, Blazers took an eight-point (34-26) lead going into the long break.
Coming from the locker rooms, the Blazers were limited to only 10 points as they trailed by 16 points going into the final period of the game.
The Canons put up a strong fight in the final quarter but were already in a deep ditch as they lost the game by a huge 12 points.
Only Nyembo Fataki (14 points) and Innocent Ochera (10 points) dropped double digits for the Blazers while Marvin Jesse Okurut was the only Canon to reach the same mark.
