The Makerere Impis are going to face their hardest test yet this season when they host the KOBs at The Graveyard on Saturday.

With fresh memories of the Heathens crumbling at Makerere, the KOBs technical staff have decided to go for a full-strength side against the newly promoted Impis.

The university side is still enjoying an unbeaten home run at the Graveyard, registering two wins in as many games.

For coach Alvin Nkamba, home advantage is going to go a long way in determining how his side performs this Saturday. This factor, coupled with the win they picked up on the road against the Jinja Hippos, should be able to reignite the Impis to put up a spirited and stubborn fight.

“We are back on course with our strategies and believe they’ll have us winning games. We are home, and the target is nothing short of victory. We plan to take the game to KOBs and enjoy our home grounds,” remarked Nkamba ahead of the KOBs game.

Since losing to the Black Pirates and drawing with the Victoria Sharks, the KOBs have ruthlessly won their last two games.

The Jinja Hippos were first up on the chopping board, receiving a 50-12 thrashing at the 5D Ranch. Up next were the Rhinos, who reduced that margin by 4 points, losing 46-12 at Legends Rugby Club.

It is this ferocious but cautious approach that the Impis should be wary of on Saturday afternoon.

The Impis have a strong but young forwards pack, which shall give their opposite numbers a chance to flex their experience, especially in open play. On the other hand, the Impis’ backline is creative and exciting, which could hurt the KOBs off the set plays.

Regardless of the result, the spectators are in for a treat at the Graveyard for the whole 80 minutes.
