Under the Lugogo floodlights, league debutants Entebbe UPPC and NEC shared the spoils in a non-scoring stalemate at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Entebbe UPPC started the game brilliantly, dictating the tempo right from the onset.
Mid-season signings Sadik Nasur, Laban Tibita and Abraham Tusubiira all combined well as they posed a real threat to the hosts.
In the 40th minute, Entebbe UPPC made their first change of the game when Eric Ssenjobe was replaced by Isa Mubiru.
As the second half kicked off, NEC called for their first change; Allan Mugalu replaced Pius Obuya.
NEC returned for the final stanza a far more improved side than they were in the opening half.
Mugalu recorded three attempts towards the visitors’ goal with no breakthrough.
Entebbe UPPC called for four changes at once in the 64th minute.
Taban Tibita was rested for Hassan Ssenyonjo, Abraham Kakensa Tusubiira paved way for Muhammed Kyeyune.
Sadik Nasur and Ambrose Kigozi were replaced by Julius Poloto and Fazil Tumwine, respectively.
Two minutes later, NEC made a double change. Forward Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte was replaced by Marvin Kavuma, and Muhammed Senoga Kagawa came out for Ronald Media Innocent.
Entebbe UPPC substitute Kyeyune put the goal in the net, but he was already in an offside position in the 70th minute.
Ssenyonjo got booked for a late tackle in the 72nd minute before NEC captain Kavuma registered a shot on target.
Kavuma continued to threathen and Ronald Media headed Odongo’s cross out as NEC maintained their quest for the goal, though in vain.
Entebbe UPPC played to their 6th draw of the season, as they made it 36 points from 20 games, still in the 5th position.
For NEC, this is the 10th draw in 20 matches with 31 points in the 7th position.
