City Oilers secure a hard-fought 66-60 victory against Sommet in the National Basketball League encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.
In the opening minute, Landry Ndikumana opened the game with a shot from downtown, but Joseph Chuma responded to set the tone of the game. Isaac Athuai concluded the first quarter with a fadeaway layup as the Oilers levelled the game 15-15.
City Oilers handled the ball better in the second quarter, creating better shots and stretching Sommet’s defence to take a four-point lead before the long break.
Coming from the locker rooms, Ndikumana fired one from downtown to fire up the crowd before they extended a 5-0 run. The record champions kept the foot on the gas pedal, taking a nine-point lead to the final period.


















Sommet launched a late charge in the final period but trailed by six points at the end of the encounter.
Peter Cheng managed a double-double, dropping 15 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Joseph Chuma joined the double-digit column with 11 points.
Landry Ndikumana (14 points), Titus Lual (14 points) and Fayed Baale (11 points) led the Oilers in double digits.
