UCU Lady Canons secured a well-deserved 57-40 victory against Pearl Queens in the National Basketball League encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday evening.
The Lady Canons opened up a 4-0 run before Agatha Akamwada responded on the line. With 18 seconds on the clock, Racheal Nanyonga tied the game 8-8 to conclude the opening stanza.
In the second quarter, the Pearl Queens were limited to only eight points as they trailed by nine points going into the halftime break.
Coming from the locker rooms, Mariam Namukwaya got the second stanza underway with a hot shot from down town to fire up the crowd.
Jane Chisom’s layup concluded the third period as the Pearl Queens trailed by 14 points going into the final period of the game.
Despite Pearl Queens’ strong fight, the Lady Canons secured a commanding 17-point victory.
Matrina Anyango (12 points), Sylvia Nakituuka (10 points) and Sylvia Nantongo (10 points) led the Lady Canons’ scoring chart in double digits.
On the other hand, only Jane Chisom dropped 18 points to reach double digits for the Pearl Queens.
