Gusto Mulongo celebrates the match winner for Vipers against Calvary at St Mary's Stadium, Kitende

UPL 2025/26 (Match Day 21 Results):

  • Vipers 1-0 Calvary
  • Lugazi 0-3 KCCA
  • Entebbe UPPC 0-2 Sports Club Villa
  • Express 3-1 URA

Relegation bound Calvary have proved a hard nut to crack for Vipers this season in the Uganda Premier League.

The reigning league champions needed a last-minute gasp winner to triumph before their home fans 1-0 at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende under floodlights on Saturday night.

The moment of brilliance came in the 87th minute from their forward Gusto Mulongo who hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Mulongo was only introduced in the game with 15 minutes to play, replacing Glodi Beyuku Munsi.

He was well stationed to tap finish home off another substitute Yunus Junior Sentamu’s assist.

Sentamu had replaced skipper Milton Karisa in one of the double change where Nigerian born winger Odili Chukwuma had also come on for Joseph Marvin Youngman.

The corresponding first round fixture between these two entities had ended goalless in Midigo, Yumbe, West Nile.

The hard-fought slim victory for Vipers over Calvary in the return leg ensured that Vipers re-established their four points lead at the summit of the league standings with 50 points.

The Venoms had earlier in the week secured a 2-1 win on the road at UPDF with Arafat Usama Kiza and Abdul-Karim Watambala on target as promising target Enrique Lubwama had given UPDF some hope with the equalizer.

Second placed Kitara who triumphed 4-0 in the Bunyoro derby against Buhimba United Saints have 46 points with 9 games to end the season.

Others are KCCA (45), Sports Club Villa (41) and Entebbe UPPC (36) in the top five positions after match day 21.

At the bottom end of the table, Calvary has not won any game in 21 outings; their five points coming off stalemates including the famous goal-less draw with Vipers in Yumbe.

UPDF has 14 points, Buhimba United Saints (15), Mbarara City (16) and Lugazi (18).

The league takes a break until April 2026 to allow the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 matches to be played.
