After a defeat to the Buffaloes in the Kyadondo derby, Heathens responded with a resounding 30-5 victory against the Victoria Sharks on Saturday.
The Heathens have been blowing hot and cold this season, defeating heated rivals, the Black Pirates, but following up that win with a loss against the Buffaloes.
This inconsistent run of games raised concerns for head coach Tolbert Onyango and his staff, but Saturday’s emphatic win means that the Yellow Machine is back.
Going into the break, the Heathens were leading by 10 points, thanks to a try from David Wako and kicks from Malcom Okello.
They then came back from the break a different beast altogether, extending their lead to 20 points through the efforts of Okello. While Okello was pushing the Heathens forward, another Okello, this time Patrick, was setting the Heathens back a pace by receiving a yellow card.
With 14 men on the pitch for the Heathens, the Sharks pulled back a try through Mark Omoding but it was a little too late as the damage had already been done.
The game then flipped back to its earlier trajectory by the Heathens, who added 10 more points, thanks to tries from Joseph Oyet and Claude Otema.
The Heathens now return to the Top 4 and are only 3 points shy of the summit of the log.
