Kawempe Muslim beat She Corporate to go to the top of the FUFA Women’s Super League log.
Kawempe Muslim secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory against She Corporate in the FWSL encounter at the Valley Ground on Sunday.
Jovia Nakagolo and Kevin Nanyunja were on target as the hosts secured the three points needed to go on top of the table.
The kick-off was delayed due to a heavy downpour that made the pitch unplayable, but also scared some fans away from the high-stakes game.
She Corporate started on the front foot and nearly got an early lead, but Jesca Namaganda’s effort bounced off the frame.
Nakagolo fired the hosts ahead in the ninth minute. The forward pounced on a good ball after miscommunication between the She Corporate’s goalkeeper and the defender.
Sumaya Komuntale nearly gave the visitors an equaliser before the break but her effort missed the target closely.
Early into the second half, Rebecca Nakato forced her goalkeeper, Saidat Namwanje, into a big save as the former nearly placed the ball in her net.
In the 78th minute, She Corporate were reduced to ten players after the goalkeeper Molly Naava handled the ball outside her area.
Four minutes before the final whistle, Kevin Nanyunja doubled Kawempe’s lead with a brilliant finish to send the home crowd into crazy celebrations.
The victory takes Kawempe Muslim on top of the table with 36 points while She Corporate drops second with 35 points.
