Kawempe Muslim Ladies ensured they maintained their stay at the top of the FUFA Women Super League table after overcoming Amus College on Saturday in Bukedea district.

The Valley Warriors had to come from a goal down to secure all three points and remain on course of clinching this year’s title, scoring twice in the final minutes of the game.

Amus College led at halftime through Doreen Aujat’s early strike. The forward tucked home five minutes after kickoff when he went through on goal before firing past onrushing goalkeeper Saidat Namwanje.

However, with defeat looking into their faces, Kawempe put in a never-give-up shift to secure a 2-1 victory thanks to Jovia Nakagolo’s late brace.

Nakagolo levelled matters in the 84th minute, capitalising on a howler by goalkeeper Elizabeth Atieno, who spilt the ball into her path to drill home.

Deep in added time, Nakagolo was in the right place to brush the ball into the back of the net when Samalie Nakacwa made a quick start from a free kick.

Victory means Kawempe Muslim stay top of the pile on 39 points from 16 games, followed closely by She Corporate, who edged Makerere University 2-1 in Njeru.

Elsewhere, Kampala Queens were 2-0 winners over Uganda Martyrs thanks to goals from Peace Muduwa and Joan Ainembabazi.
