The Lions Cup got off to a balanced start and remained that way at halftime, until the KOBs pulled away from the Heathens in the second half.
Early penalties by Marvin Asaba and Rasul Abiriga for the Heathens and KOBs, respectively, set the tone for the first half, where both teams looked evenly matched.
The KOBs then went ahead through Karim Arinaitwe, and at that point, the Heathens were still calm, knowing they could still recover. Abiriga was once again the man to add the extras and a penalty for KOBs.

The Heathens fought back through an Alphonse Openy try in the right corner, but Joseph Oyet couldn’t convert.
In the second half, the KOBs engaged a higher gear after bringing on James Ijongat and Faragi Odugo. After a series of penalties, the KOBs found an opening through Joseph Aredo, who dived over to extend the lead. Abiriga, who had a 100% kicking rate off the tee, made no mistake once again.

If the game wasn’t gone at that point with the score at 20-08, it surely was out of the Heathens’ hands when Joseph Oyet got himself sent to the sin bin for talking back at the referee Brian Batakwire.
Tries from Mike Otto and Benjamin Muwanguzi, coupled with conversions and penalties from Abiriga, put the fixture to bed to hand the Heathens their third loss of the season.
A consolation try from David Wako wasn’t enough for the Heathens, who now sit fifth on the log.
