  • KIU Rangers 51-72 KCCA Leopards

KCCA Leopards concluded the first round of the 2026 National Basketball League campaign with a victory against KIU Rangers.

KCCA Leopards secured a well-deserved 51-72 victory against KIU Rangers in the 2026 NBL encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday.

It was generally a low-paced game as both sides seemed fatigued. This allowed a slightly more ready side in KCCA to find several first break points.

The Leopards quickly got out of their blocks with an easy layup before Ines Kanyamuneza responded with a long jump shot beyond the paint.

It was a close game until the first period went into the eighth minute and the Leopards broke away after Margaret Bagaala’s layup. They later took the quarter 18-13.

In the second frame, KIU Rangers improved their defence as they narrowed down the deficit to three points (28-25) going into the long break.

Coming from the locker rooms, KIU Rangers started on fire with a few shots beyond the paint but quickly ran out of the much needed steem.

Tracy Namugosa’s driving layup concluded the third period as they opened a commanding 14-point (54-40) lead.

It was a one way traffic in the final period of the game as the Leopards charged to a 21-point victory on the day.

Ninette Uwineza (16 points), Soigi Martha (12 points) and Margaret Bagaala (11) led the Leopards’ scoring chart in double digits.

On the other hand, only Cinderella Anema (13 points) and Ines Kanyamuneza (10 points) managed to reach double digits.
