For Coach Kitakule Isaac aka Coach Ozil, the fourth time was the charm.
After years of waiting, Jinja Comprehensive falling at the final hurdle, the tactical mastermind has finally steered the school to its first-ever Jinja District USSSA Games championship.
The victory marks a monumental shift in Jinja’s school football landscape.
Having seen the team lose three previous finals, Kitakule’s arrival and his emphasis on hard work and preparation proved to be the missing ingredients in their recipe for success.
Speaking on the turf shortly after the trophy presentation, an elated Kitakule reflected on the mental fortitude required to overcome past heartbreaks.
“We have been at the finals four times, but we lost the previous three,” Kitakule shared.
“We didn’t give up. We kept believing. I am happy that today we have finally made it.”

The coach was quick to credit the victory to a higher power and the tireless effort of his squad.
“We thank God who has given us the gift of life. It has been hard work and preparation that has enabled us to be awarded as the champions of Jinja District.”
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the short period Kitakule has spent at the helm of the Jinja Comprehensive technical bench.
His impact has been immediate, turning a perennial runner-up into a champion in record time.
“I am happy to be part of this history because it’s been a short time at the school, but with a lot of hard work that has greatly yielded,” the gaffer emphasised that the result was no fluke but a product of intense investment.
Kitakule did not take the credit alone. He pointed to the synergy between the administration and the community as the backbone of this 2026 campaign.
He offered a special vote of thanks to the school’s Director for the financial and moral investment in the team, as well as the fans whose energy filled the stadium in Bugembe.
