Afcon 2025 final between Senegal and Morocco Credit: John Philip Mugabi

The extensive investigation published by Le Monde regarding the AFCON 2025 final has just sent shockwaves through the football world.

While Senegal was celebrating its victory, confidential documents from CAF officials (the referee, match commissioner, and general coordinator) reveal a much darker reality.

According to these reports, the abandonment of the pitch in the 97th minute by the “Lions of Teranga,” acting on the orders of their head coach Pape Thiaw, is a documented and undeniable fact.

CAF regulations are, however, strict: any voluntary withdrawal during a match; results in an automatic forfeit.

The investigation even suggests that the referee may have received “instructions” not to send off two Senegalese players during the restart, in an attempt to save the final’s media image.

If the rule of law ultimately prevails at the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport), the title could definitively change hands, penalizing an attitude that, according to many observers, flouted sporting ethics that evening.

CAS will make the eagerly awaited ruling in the nearby future.

  1. Afcon 2025 has been played and the winner emerged on the pitch. Every other decision is pure corruption and a criminal act from CAF and Morocco.
If the host most be declared a winner at all cost then it’s a waste of energy inviting other countries. It’s a jamboree.

    1. When rules aren’t respected, they stop being rules, it becomes a jungle.

You can’t shout “we won on the pitch” while ignoring a clear breach. Football without rules isn’t competition, it’s chaos. And in chaos, the result means nothing.

A real winner is the one who plays by the rules, not the one who breaks them and hides behind the scoreline.

      1. A real winner is one that plays good game and are never favored and never buying their way to the trophy.

  2. May we now focus on the world cup we done with African sport that is always rigged.

  3. Why did cat allow the match to continue, immediately the Senegal players went to the dressing room they were supposed to give Morocco 3-0 win same time and end the game, not to wait for 2 months and said Senegal lose the game… That one is a totally corruption. Caf know the rules and the have to use the rules same time, not to wait for months, and what about the things Morocco ball boys where doing, it is allowed according to laws?

  4. These sportive events have been going over the past decades especially the CAF with internal corruption and injustice. Undermining the rules of laws. Rewarding a team in an administrative setting is unethical and unjust.

  5. From the onset, I had premonition that there were plans by the CAF to make sure Morocco gets to the final. The match between Morocco and Congo during the preliminary were badly officiated in favor of Morocco, and there was another (may be Benin I couldn’t recollect now) but those matches revealed the preferential treatment must be given to the host. I immediately wrote on my timeline on Facebook and I am not surprised they are now determined to fulfill such forlorn motives. Prior to that you can hear from every Moroccans that they’re hosting this time to win. Their unsportsmanlike display of blazer in the face of players both in the Caf women cups and Men were looked away by the CAF. The desperation is then became obvious in their eventual judgement to hand it to them on a silver platter. The rest of Africans are watching and waiting for the eventual decision, But CAF in collaboration with FiFA, also should be ready for the backlash of their ulterior motives. Messi led Argentina in world cup 2010 did the same and went Scott free.witjout any reference to that till date.

    1. Justice delayed is justice denied, why did the ref allow play to continue if Senegal players had breached the so called CAF regulations.I believe the ref was in charge thats why he did blow the whistle to end the the match but to restart the match after Senegalees players were back on the pitch,he even cautioned all the players who had left the pitch. The big question is where we’re the CAF regulations when the ref was exercising his authority?in CAF Chairperson’s pocket i guess.

  6. Why the waiting till someone came from the moon to say it’s a forfeit???? After so long a time…… where were the caf documents been hidden?

  7. It all lies, dear friends, all the country in north Africa is not African’s, let them go back to arabis Ligue, what did was very bad , let us assume that they scored the penalty would Caf council that,
one thing is sure tje Morocco Gouvernent, bought that game all over from caf, now Sénégal worn the game, how Can the Caf return the money Morocco Gouvernent , gave then, that is the issue, the only way is to create diplomatic lies to favor Morocco .
they should eat the cup with thier king , we know them dor long.
If it us possible, the other Africa nation can organize other match and leave Caf with thier fraudulent activity, they are just useless and corrupt individuals, because of money they are shifting side
thank you so much CAF for bein so corrupt .
