The 2025/26 Stanbic Uganda Cup is coming to what is expected to be a dramatic conclusion.

In just a month’s time, we will know the winners as 168 teams will have been whittled down to just two for the final, taking place in May.

The business end of the competition sees the best teams do battle with the semi-final line-up complete at the conclusion of the quarter-finals.

Who are in the semi-final and how did they get there?

The first team to reach the semi-finals were Vipers who beat NEC 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw over 120 minutes at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo on Good Friday.

The second team to get into the final four was URA who rallied from two goals down to beat KCCA 4-2 on penalties in a dramatic clash at the Hamz stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.

The third team to book a place in the semis was Kitara who thrashed 10-time winners Express 3-0 at Royal Park, Butema in Hoima on Easter Sunday.

The fourth and final team to reach the semi-final is SC Villa who beat lower tier side Happy Boyz Kagaba 1-0 in Kassanda on Easter Monday.

Who faces who in the Semi-finals?

A draw to determine the semi-final ties will be held soon with the games played on home and away basis at this stage to get the two teams to contest the one off final.

What is the best performance of each team in the Uganda Cup?

SC VILLA

Of the remaining teams, SC Villa have won the most trophies in the competition with NINE and only one behind joint record winners KCCA and Express.

However, they have not tasted victory in the competition since beating KCCA 3-0 over ten years ago in a replayed final at Namboole in 2015.

They have also been runners up three times.

Meanwhile, with the Jogoos also still in contention for the league, they hold the record for most doubles with six – four more than closest challengers Vipers.

VIPERS SC

The Venoms, current holders have won the cup FOUR times and lost as many finals.

In the recent years, Vipers are the most successful in the competition and beat KCCA 2-0 in the final last year at Fufa stadium, Kadiba.

Leading the table in the league, Vipers remain on course for a league and cup double – third in history if they achieve it.

The new kids on the block are in contention for their second title and will fancy their chances.

They have played one final and won it when they beat NEC at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku in 2024.
