UPDF players at Bombo

UPDF moved out of the relegation zone for the first time in a long period after overcoming Mbarara City in the game played on Thursday at Bombo Military Ground.

A commanding display saw the army side cruise to a 3-1 win over the Ankole Lions to put a half to a 12-winless run.

UPDF had last won a League game on 5th December at home to Lugazi. Since then, they had lost seven and drawn five.

In today’s game, Emmanuel Ocen fired the hosts into the lead at the half hour mark but Mbarara City made a quick response, levelling matters through Muhammad Kanyike five minutes later.

However, a commanding second half saw UPDF regain their lead courtesy of Andrew Samson Kigozi’s brace.

He scored his first of the day in the 57th minute and later put the icing on the cake with another goal.

The win lifts UPDF out of the drop zone, moving up to 13th place on 17 points, two above the relegation line. Mbarara City on the other hand are a place and point below UPDF.
