There is growing excitement in preparation for the 2026 Coronation Regatta dubbed “Empaka za Amaato ga Kabaka” on 22nd August at Bunjako Beach in Buwama, along Masaka Road.
The chairperson of the local organising committee, Ben Immanuel Misagga, alongside the other members on the steering wheel, convened a successful planning meeting at the venue on Monday, 3rd August 2026, in preparation for this event.

“We expect a very successful event as the 2026 Coronation Regatta (Empaka za Amaato ga Kabaka) comes to a grand climax at Bunjako beach in Buwama. I encourage the people from the different Masazas of Buganda Kingdom to come in big numbers,” Misagga revealed.

The King of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, is anticipated to grace this climax of the water sports discipline whose preliminary round was held at Nakiwogo Beach in Entebbe.
The organisers have also included a treasure hunt competition where the first 100 fans to access the venue will seek hidden coupons in the sand to win big, enticing prizes such as motorcycles, phones and others.

The winners of the boat competition will take home trophies and varying cash prizes.
There will also be music and other sorts of entertainment.
The fans are assured of maximum security prior to, during and after the competition, as confirmed by safety and security head Joseph Collins Ssemanda.
The technical affairs will be overseen by Batenga Nakisozi from Uganda Rowing, also the head coach of Uganda Rowing teams.
Entry to Bunjako beach is Shs 10,000 per head.
