Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) through the club licensing committee has deemed fit Kakyeka stadium to host Uganda Premier League games.

This followed a tremendous step by the management of the Mbarara based sports facility to ensure its “up-grade” by improving upon the patched bouncing ground, internal perimeter fencing, dressing rooms and the lavatories.

Management ensured there the dry patches are replanted with grass, the entire ground leveled, dressing rooms improved as well as an internal perimeter fencing erected.

FUFA confirmed through a tweet;

After re-inspection, the following now exist at the Kakyeka stadium;  Proper perimeter fence, grass covering the field of play, renovation of dressing rooms, demarcated areas for home and visiting fans.

Kakyeka Stadium is home to two Mbarara based top flight sides – Mbarara City and newly promoted Nyamityobora Football Clubs.

The two clubs were forced to seek haven elsewhere when the stadium failed to meet the minimum standards.

Mbarara City has been using Kavumba Recreational Stadium in Wakiso district whilst Nyamityobora was hiring Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium in Kabowa, Kampala.

Mbarara City will host BUL on November 13, 2018 at the Kakyeka Stadium.
