For the opening two months of 2019 (January and February), the golfing family in Uganda has had two at least a must-attend event – the Singleton Golf Challenge.
January witnessed the qualification round to determine the 60 pairs that would make the grade for round one, inclusive of the defending champions as well as three others for the sponsors.
On February 16th, round one of this thrilling was completed successfully at the par 71 Entebbe Golf Club course.
A total of 288 golfers, 128 of whom were in the main group (64 pairs) and the rest in the subsidiary catergory took part in the day long championship.

Palm Valley based golfer Gilbert Kiiza, playing off handicap 9 was the best overall golfer, winning the men’s group A with 39 points.
It was a great round of golf. Even if I was not part of the pairings, I am happy to have performed well to come top in group A.

UPDF golfer Aaron Mugomola, handicap 3 was second with 37 points.
Nassar Mackie, playing off handicap 5 was first runners up with 22 points.
32 pairs progressed to the next round that will be staged on 9th March 2019, still at Entebbe Club.
The brand new pajero sport car staked by Mitsubishi (fully insured by Afrisafe) remains unclaimed after no golfer managed a hole in one.
For starters, the winning pair will make it to the 2019 Desert Classic tournament in Dubai.

We are glad that Singleton Golf Challenge is back. It is the best thrilling golf tournament around the country. Golfers can not wait for such an experience every month. So far, we have had the qualification and round one events. In March, we shall play round three with 32 pairs of golfers (64 pairs) as well the subsidiary.
