Brian Muruli Mayanja acrobatically shoots against Kyetume at Lugogo

Pilsner Uganda Premier League Awards (February 2021):

  • Player: Brian Muruli Mayanja (Police FC)
  • Coach: Fred Kajoba Kisitu (Vipers)

Police Football Club has a very rich history, at least in the recent times with a clean proven record of nurturing natural goal poachers.

A number of goal scorers as Bruno Olobo, Peter “Crounch” Ssenyonjo, Geofrey Massa, Martin Muwanga, Hassan Mubiru, Dan Walusimbi, Denis Obua (R.I.P), Michael Sserumaga to the latest crop of Juma Balinya, Ben Ocen and now Brian Muruli Mayanja are vivid products.

Muruli, current top scorer of the league after 14 rounds with 8 goals aspires to follow in the foot-steps of the club’s greats.

A January signing from Kitara, 5 of Muruli’s 8 goals have come at Police after 3 strikes with Kitara in the first five games of the season.

He scored on his Police debut against Kyetume, Bright Stars (brace), Vipers and BUL.

Muruli has since attested that he yearns to work hard, continue with the teamwork element and maintain the goal scoring exploits to follow in a bid to emulate the previous great scorers of the club.

“Football is teamwork. I want to work hard as a person and with my teammates to achieve all the success.”

Muruli and Vipers’ head coach Fred Kajoba were crowned as the respective best Uganda Premier League player and coach for the month of February 2021.

“I thank God for everything I did in life and in particular the month of February 2021. I thank my teammates, family and fans for the support.” He said.
