IAAF courses to shape grass root athletics

48 participants from numerous technical institutions and primary schools around the country are taking part in the International Association of Athletics Federations’ (IAAF) level one coaching and Kids’ Athletics Instructors’ courses in turn at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

National Youth Athletics coordinator, George Palanda is certain the latter training course will not only improve the technical quality but also uncover tumbled events in Ugandan athletics.  The Kids’ Athletics Instructors’ course which was started in Uganda two years ago is now in 18 countries around the world.

The ten day level one course which ends on Thursday also attracted 24 participants and German instructor, Gunter Lange from the Education and Sports ministry ponders the coaching will positively affect the sport’s grassroots.
