Warriors, UCU take leads in Playoff final

Kyambogo Warriors took a 1-0 series lead in the best of seven MTN FUBA playoff finals following their 90-73 win over DMark Power in game on Saturday Night at YMCA. Warriors won the first quarter 18-15, tied the second quarter 25 as Power matched them shot for shot but led the final two quarters (20-12 and 27-20) to take the first stride.

Henry Malinga’s double-double (20 points, 16 rebounds) led the Warriors. Eric Malinga added 19 points while Ivan Enabu scored 10 points and made 7 asissts on a quiet night. Ben Komakech led all Power scorers with 19 points followed by Isaac Lugude with 16 points. Isaac put up 8 points and picked 8 rebounds while Micheal Kojjo grabbed 11 rebounds for the losing side.

In the Women’s division, UCU lady Canons beat KCC Leopards 65-57 to lead their series 1-0. UCU’s forward Odhiambo Purity scored game high 26 points followed by teammate Amoding Maureen with 20 points. Zalwango Joyce led the losing side with 16 points and Soigi Martha added 12 points
