
After spending three weeks in Lira, Arua and Gulu districts, three coaches from England Ed Williams, Richard Davies and Lee Booth wound up the introduction cricket in the Northern part of Uganda with a coaching clinic in Arua District. It took place in five primary and three secondary schools were selected for the project.
“The project has been a success so far and Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) will strive to make sure the game spreads in that part of the country which had eluded us due to the war in that part of the country” John Trust Mayeku, the UCA development officer said. “UCA is very grateful to all those who have assisted in making the Project a success and special thanks go to UK Sport, the ICC and Cricket Without Boundaries who have helped fund the project.” Mayeku added.
Grace Mutyagaba was made regional development officer to oversee the activities in the Northern Region. Since 2005, CWB has been working in developing nations. To date, they have helped more than 30,000 youngsters and 2000 coaches.
