Table leaders Wanderers and second placed side
Tornado only picked two points apiece after their Multiple Industries Division One League games ended prematurely due to the afternoon city showers on Sunday.
Dennis Musali’s Wanderers were all out for 212 in 48.4 overs with a half-ton of 57 from Nehal Bibodi and Ali Raza (36) against Challengers.
That high score gave them hopes they would fight and walk away with maximum points against but the Challengers’ innings were halted at 14 overs with 26 runs on board for a two wicket loss.
Challengers remained rooted bottom with 18 points while Wanderers moved to 59 points. Elsewhere, skipper Frank Nsubuga had scored 42 runs while Dhaval Patel had stroked 36 as Tornado set 180 in 37.2 overs against Nile.
But their hopes to close on the gap with Wanderers atop were brushed away after the skies opened up with three overs of play into Nile’s innings.
Tornado moved to 53 points but still stayed five away from the leaders while Nile remained fifth on 36.
Defending champions Patidar moved to 45 points but were kept on third after their 232-run victory over Rounders at Jinja SS Oval. At the lakeside Oval in Entebbe, fourth-placed side Charity (39) scored 116 runs in 44.3 overs enroute beating SKLPS by a wicket.
