Rwanda national side to have cricket tour

Uganda may have finished 14th out of 16 sides in the recent T20 world cup qualifiers, ahead of Denmark and Oman but neighbours, Rwanda are willing to learn something.

In preparation to have decent results at the third division Africa T20 competition scheduled for next month in Johannesburg, Rwandan national cricket side will have trial games with three Ugandan select

sides this weekend.

According to Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) Martin Ondeko, some U-19 players will be included in two of the teams. “Rwanda will arrive on Friday morning in Kampala by bus. Our Uganda A side played them last February, so it won’t be a strange meeting for our sides” Ondeko said.

Meanwhile, no player who was part of the Dubai ICC T20 world cup qualifiers’ contingent will play against Rwanda apart from left arm spinner, Brian Masaba who will captain the Sunday select side. All sides will be managed by Martin Suji.

Two of the three games will be played on Saturday at Lugogo in the morning and afternoon. The Nile-Rounders Multiple Industries cricket league match has been adjourned to pave way final Sunday afternoon game at Lugogo. The other league games will go on uninterrupted.
