1st leg, Zambia 1-0 Uganda

2nd Leg, October 13th, 2012 @ Namboole

Uganda Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson is hopeful his team can overturn the 1-0 deficit suffered at the hands of African Champions Zambia in the first leg of the third and final round of the 2013 Afcon qualifiers but warns that it won’t be easy.

“We have got hope though it won’t be easy in Kampala. Zambia is a well organised side with a

fantastic coach and good players. It’s never an easy task against the champions of Africa but the most important thing is that we are still in the tie”, he said.

On his team’s overall performance at the intimidating Levy Mwanawasa, the Scot said that his charges could have done better but against a team of Zambia’s calibre, it was not an easy task.

“We could have done better but it was never going to be easy against the champions. We never troubled them so much but we had a good opportunity which their goalie saved. Of course am disappointed not to win but I think it was a fair result”, he concluded.

Christopher Katongo’s first half strike gave the Chipolopolo a slim advantage going into the second round which Uganda hosts on October 12th at Mandela national stadium, Namboole and just need to score two un answered goals to make it to the finals for the first time since 1978.
