
Uganda Cranes has been drawn to face 2012 African Champions Zambia in the final round of the 2013 AFCON qualifiers in an official draw held at Emperors in Johannesburg. Nigerian super eagles legend Daniel Amokach picked the ball from pot B that read Uganda after South African legend Tofie had picked the ball that contained Zambia from pot A.
On a good note though, Uganda will have to play the second leg at fortress Namboole. The first leg is scheduled between 7-9 September in Lusaka while Uganda hosts the second leg at Namboole between 12-14 October this year.
The Cranes last met Zambia in a friendly game in 2010 at Namboole and the two sides settled for a 1-1 draw but the two sides have met before numerous times in CECAFA senior challenge Cup before Zambia opted to shift to COSAFA. Uganda last played in the finals 34 years ago when they lost to Ghana 2-0 in the finals.
In other draws, other CECAFA representatives Sudan and Ethiopia will have to face each other. The most interesting draw however saw giants Ivory Coast face Senegal. Full draw.
