Ahead of the highly anticipated inaugral glamarous Bell Uganda Super League awards ceremony tomorrow (Friday) at Serena Hotel, SC Villa midfielder and midfielder of the year nominee Isaac Kirabira has heaped praise on the innovators of the awards citing that they are a source of motivation for the players.
Speaking to Kawowo sports, the Jogoo young product said; “The innovators
deserve special praise for this. It’s a good source of motivation for the players. It encourages us to work hard to be part of the awards as a nominee and in the end, it improves your game”.
The diminutive former Villa skipper also went ahead to point out who he thinks deserves to walk away with the gongs but declined to name himself.
“For his goals and over all game, i think Robert Ssentongo deserves the award for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) while Simeone Masaba should take the best defenders award. He has been one of the most consistent players for club and country.
The young ones should just feel motivated standing on the podium with him and maybe push next year”, said Kirabira before adding that he wasn’t satisfied with his personal performance last season.
“I was surprised with the nomination because i was dissapointed with my personal performance but may be statistics don’t lie”. The U-23 international also went ahead to speak about Villa’s season. “It was bad since our target was winning the championship which we failed to achieve.
We were unluckily hit by injuries and then may be our administration didn’t do enough to motivate the boys.
With players like Steven Bengo, Moses Ndaula, Herman Wasswa, Ayub Kisalita, Noah Ssemakula, Isaac Muleme and Ronald Muganga, we are a team capable of challenging for honours. Maybe we shall come back strong next season”, he concluded.
