Overview:
During the year 2023, the income sources of Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) will come from subscription fees (Shs 42,323,250/=), membership fees (Shs 10,000,000/=), sporting events (Shs 471, 790,000/=), Government (1,500,000,000/=), international woodball body, sponsorships (Shs 170, 500,000/=), equipment sale (200,000,000/=), Ndejje University (Shs 178,215,500/=), Chinese Embassy (Shs. 1,000,000,000/=) and other sources (Shs. 35,150,000=).
The 15th annual Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) annual congress that convened at Namirembe Resource center in Kampala on 11th February 2023 passed a number of resolutions.
The congress was chaired by the president Paul Mark Kayongo, flanked by members of the executive and David Ssemakula Katende, the general secretary for the National Council of Sports (NCS).
The annual activity calendar, financial report, executive reports by the president Kayongo and executive secretary Collins Ssemanda, approval of the minutes from previous congress, admission of new members among others were some of the deliberations passed.
A total budget of Shs 3,607,978,750/= is projected as income for the coming year (2023) whilst the expenditure stands at Shs 3,598,078,750/= as presented by the treasurer Sarah Mpiima.
The income sources will come from subscription fees (Shs 42,323,250/=), membership fees (Shs 10,000,000/=), sporting events (Shs 471, 790,000/=), Government (1,500,000,000/=), international woodball body, sponsorships (Shs 170, 500,000/=), equipment sale (200,000,000/=), Ndejje University (Shs 178,215,500/=), Chinese Embassy (Shs. 1,000,000,000/=) and other sources (Shs. 35,150,000=).
The expenditure catalogue has administrative costs (Shs 186, 069,772/=), sporting events (Shs 608,850,000/=), meetings (Shs 42,550,000/=), depreciation (Shs 8,958,895), UWbF development project (Shs 2,510,500,083/=), Awards gala (Shs. 35,150,000/=) and others (Shs. 206,000,000/=).
The activity report spans from February to December 2023 with different domestic and international competitions.
The national championships will entail the national league, USSSA national ball games, Uganda International, corporate woodball circuits, Kyambogo open, women’s day championships, ICPAU Juniors’ woodball open, Buganda schools’ championship, president’s cup, regional woodball championship and the 11th annual awards gala among others.
Among the international competitions will include Kenya International, 3rd IWbF beach woodball championship (Malaysia), International Tour Malaysia Stop (Malaysia), East Africa woodball schools championship, 3rd Africa open (Gulu), among others.
Kayongo expressed gratitude for the different stakeholders in the development of this sport in Uganda ranging from the Government, world’s woodball body, sponsors (Coral Coatings, Buganda Land Board, ICPAU and others), players, clubs, media and other partners.
He vowed to build more capacity in the departments of technical, administration and refereeing with more clinics.
The president is optimistic the issue of equipment will be rectified once the embargo of rubbers from Asia is lifted.
“We are humbled by the progress of the Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) key stakeholders. The game continues to grow and develop by leaps and bounds. Better competitions locally and internationally will be held” Kayongo revealed.
NCS assistant general secretary David Ssemakula Katende praised the operations of UWbF for the good governance, accountability and deliberate efforts to spread the game across the countryside
I thank Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) for the good governance. Consolidate upon the achievements from 2022 coming into 2023. Be very jealousy of your federations. You are lucky to have good leaders. Please promote the sport in line with areas of focus (interest). Maintain the capacity building of the sport for it yields results (progressive).

The new members admitted to the family of Uganda Woodball Federation include Lwengo, University of Kisubi, Bonna Baana (Nakaseke), Gayaza Junior School, Prisons, Vision Group, Nalugala Muslim Primary School, Ssanga Primary school, Kirinya Inclusive Junior School, Ministry of Public Service, Mengo S.S, Our Lady of Africa and Mbale Woodball Association.
The first woodball event of the year 2023 will be the 1st corporate woodball circuit at MUBS, Nakawa on 19th February.
