NEC and Kitara will face off this Thursday with either side seeking to open up a gap at the top.

Both teams are level on points (37) alongside third placed Police FC and well aware that victory could be of significant impact in the race for promotion.

Under the stewardship of coach Michael Lukyamuzi, NEC have punched above weight and want to earn promotion on their first time of asking.

Lukyamuzi is fully aware of how draining the remaining fixtures are and hopes to focus on one game at a time.

“Every game now matters because every team comes with its own challenge. The race at the top is tight and any slip could hinder your chances. Therefore, we consider the immediate next game and try to play it like a Cup final.” He said.

His counterpart Ssimbwa who secured the first win last week is unfazed by the voices from the fans and believes he will be able to driver Kitara to the promised land.

“The fans want one thing and that is results. I really do not want to put my focus on them. All we have to do is win our next games starting with the game against NEC.”

The reverse fixture played at Kigaaya Primary School Playground ended in a one all draw.

In the other games to be played on Thursday, Police visit Kyetume in Nakisunga, Mbarara City make a trip to Mbale to face Kataka while Calvary take on Ndejje University.

Lugazi host Luweero United, Jinja North United will be up against Soroti City, Booma entertain Adjumani while Northern Gateway will be at home to Kaaro Karungi.
