Bunamwaya SC will aim at reaching their first ever Uganda Cup finals when they host Maroons FC at Buikwe Stadium, this afternoon. The hosts are favorites to reach Uganda’s oldest competition after winning the first leg tie 1-0 in Luzira on Wednesday. Martin Muwanga scored the all important away goal in the tie.Edward Golola’s side will now need just a draw to advance to the finals and book a date with league

BUNAMWAYA SC TEAM NEWS:

The 2009 League Champions will still be with out Head Coach Edward Golola who travelled with St. Mary’s Kitende SS to the Copa Coca Cola post primary championships in Tororo. Assistant Richard Wasswa will be the man in charge. No changes are expected from the team that played in the first leg but the good news is that defender Edward Ssali is fit to play after being withdrawn in early stages of the second half due to a concussion.

PROBABLE LINE UP: Muwonge (gk), Wadada, Walusimbi, Ssali, Sseku, Kimuli (cpt), Ssekumba, Luwagga, Muwanga, Odur and Okhuti.

MAN TO WATCH: Robert Kimuli is the fulcrum of the team and is the man the Prisons’ side must watch out for to stand a chance.

MAROONS TEAM NEWS: Skipper Martin Mpuga is ruled out due to injury but Asaph Mwebaze’s has Okello Sylvester to stand in. The Coach was not contented with the officiation in the first leg and will pray its different this time round.

PROBABLE LINE UP: Akol (gk), Lukundo, Okello, Oguttu, Tuliraba, Kigongo, Maxwell, Kisujju, Otai, Akena and Abege.

MAN TO WATCH: Leading club marksman George Abege is the man that carries Mwebaze’s hope and if is at his best today, the hosts’ rear guard must be alert at all times.

– Maroons FC last reached this stage in 1980 but lost 2-0 to KCC FC.

– If Bunamwaya SC qualifies to the finals, it will their first time in history.

– The last time Maroons visited Buikwe, they narrowly lost 1-0 to Bunamwaya SC but had what seemed a clear goal cancelled for off side by referee Kutegana Peter.

– The Fufa Competitions Committee has appointed Batte Denis, Mark Ssonko and Ngobi Musa Balikoowa as the match officials.
