National sevens team pose

Pace will be a key element as Uganda makes its attempt at the Safaricom Sevens tournament that gets underway at Nyayo stadium in Nairobi, Kenya on Friday until Sunday.

“This is a combined side of young and experienced players and I believe they will run the teams rugged at the tournament,” John Musoke, the coach of the Seven’s side said. “I am not interested in knowing which pool we have been

placed because to us that is not important we shall just go their to play our game.”

The Safari Sevens tournament has been in existence since 1996 and Uganda has always been a regular participant at this tournament that has attracted the best teams in the region and international nations and clubs. Uganda picked up the Plate event in 1997 and last year did the same.

The Rugby Union has choosen five new faces who will be making their debut at this prestigious event include fly-half Jasper Ochan, a U-19 star others include James Mugwanya and Gerald Ssewankambo

Hot shot Justin Kimono will also now make his debut for the national 7s team.

His brother James Kimono has also been selected on the 12-man team, which leaves tomorrow.
