University League Results:
KIU 1-2 MUBS
Makerere University Business School registered another win after beating resilient Kampala International University 2-1 in an entertaining game on Monday to put pressure on table leaders Kyambogo University who are at the summit.
Goal from Joachim Golooba and a penalty from Henry Wanyama helped MUBS to get away with the three points while Ismail Kagingo got KIU’s consolation. MUBS registered their fourth win of the season which moves them to 13 points closing the gap between them and Kyambogo to 4 points. Despite the defeat Kyobe’s KIU remain fifth in the standings with seven points.
It was a game that produced some fascinating football from both sides. But it is MUBS who had better opportunities to assert authority in the first half with Shaban Omara and company upfront lavishing squandered several goal scoring opportunities. The first half yielded some returns despite MUBS being wasteful and exciting football prevailed but KIU demonstrated they had learnt from the enemy’s inefficiency when the second period commenced.
The KIU side won a corner and Ismail Kagingo was on hand to guide the ball, with a good measure of aid from Joshua Mucunguzia , in the 64th minute for an equaliser.
Later on Kyobe’s side had no answer for the awarded penalty after skipper Geoffrey Akabwai controlled the ball with his hand preventing it from landing to the opponent and its Henry Wanyama’’s penalty which took MUBS to victory.
