It was one way traffic for the seeded players on the opening day of action at the Castle Lite Squash Open that swung into action at Kampala club yesterday.
Seed two Ian Rukunya Kajubu outwitted Paul Serulyo 11-3,12-10 and 11-1 to easily move into the next stage of the week long tournament.
Two time defending champion Michael Kawooya registered similar results dumping Jesse Enamu 11-1,11-2,11-4. This is one of the major tournaments on the Uganda Squash Rackets Association that has over the year’s attracted players from the region this year it has attracted players from Kenya.
Seed five Lawrence Matovu beat Mika Gaalya,11-9,5-11,11-5,11-7. Other winners where Samuel Kyagulanyi who also thrushed Anthony Mugisha 3-2.
Ivan Njuki beat Kenya’s Ali Kasani 3-0 while Rizwan Khan from Kenya beat Juma Semanda 3-0. The ladies will get into action tomorrow Edith Wamalwa is the defending champion and will be seeking back to back titles at the tournament.
