Nsambya Sports Ground has been rehabilitated.

Since time immemorial, the Nsambya sports ground was home of Nsambya Sports Club, arguably the country’s oldest football club (founded in 1911).

The former barren and bumpy ground will now have a new outlook with an astro turf (synthetic) surface, thanks to efforts of the Catholic Church.

Thus far, the ground has been rebranded as Youth Encounters the Savior (YES) centre sports arena, according to the director Father Joseph Mary Ssebunya.

“Along the theme ‘Where sports meets spirituality’, we want to encourage the community through sports and this is one of the efforts to develop sports infrastructure. We are aware of the demand for good sports infrastructure where the people can meet and enjoy sports” Father Ssebunya attests.

The total cost for the entire project is estimated to cost Ug.Shs 3 billion with other amenities as the swimming pool, rest parlour, changing rooms and kids playing area also coming up in the due course.

The local community, clubs, institutions as churches, schools and banks are all welcome to use the facility.
