Day by day, Excel Soccer Academy’s initial dream to inspire, motivate and raise football icons is getting closer to reality.

With support of parents and donors, the project sent 14 kids (aged between 7-12) for a one-week visit to the Barcelona FC’s La Masia academy, their maiden trip yesterday.

“We are going to establish a working relationship with La Masia,” director and coach Patrick Gwayambadde told Kawowo Sports.

“The kids will also meet Barcelona stars on the visit.” the delegation head added.

The kids will have training sessions with Barcelona B coaches before playing a friendly match with Valencia’s youth side on Wednesday.  For the entire seven days, the contingent will reside in Salao town.

Also in pipeline is a trip to visit English Premier League side Chelsea’s academy in August.

Formed two years ago, Excel has engaged close to 200 children in numerous football clinics and galas, all gathered through scouting from numerous parts of the country.
