Soana 3-0 Koboko
Soana Football Club beat Koboko 3-0 to become the third team to be promoted to the FUFA Super league in the season to come.
This was during the finals of the Big league play offs played at Mehta Stadium in Lugazi on Thursday.
The victory marks yet another historic feat for coach Richard Makumbi who has for the umpteenth time guided another lower league side to Uganda’s elite football league. “My players have paid me sweetest gift of 2013”, Makumbi said amidst celebrations from players and officials after the game.
Former Kampala City Council winger, Siraje Turyamuhebwa opened the scoring in the 17th minutes before goals from 15 Million mid season signing,Dan Wagaluka and Mike Kalungi sealed Koboko’s fate in a thrilling match played before a partisan crowd.
Soana now joins Kawempe based Bright Stars and Mbale’s CRO, after the two sides qualified directly to play in the country’s top flight division. The two sides are to play in the finals on Saturday.
UTODA and Arua based Mvara Boys (Rwenzori group), Kasese Youth and Mbarara’s Old Timers (Elgon group )have been relegated to the respective regional leagues.
