Two-time Ugandan rally champion as well as reigning Tanzanian champion Yasin Nasser is thrilled to return to the World Rally Championship Safari Kenya Rally where he will be taking on a new challenge as he runs among the WRC2 contenders.

This year’s Safari rally is slated for 28-31 March in Nairobi and Naivasha, Kenya.

Having missed last year’s edition, Nasser returns to Safari Rally with his Ford Fiesta rally2 which will qualify him for the competitive and exciting category.

Although he will not be among the priority crews that score points towards WRC, Nasser says he is glad to share the stage with some WRC2 known names.

Among the thirteen crews in the rally2 class are two-time Safari rally category winner Kajetan Kajetanowicz from Poland, Skoda Fabia’s Oliver Solberg from Sweden, Gus Greensmith, Daniel Chwist. The class will also feature host Nation drivers; Karan Patel, Carl Tundo, Aakif Virani among others.

“WRC safari rally will always be every driver’s dream to attempt. Have been here before, but in a different car. It will be nice experiencing it with a rally2 car,” said Yasin.

“Literally we will not be competing against those top drivers in the rally2 category. But there is much that we are going to come out with by just competing alongside them,” he added.

Nasser will be partnering with Ali Katumba with whom they attempted the 2021 edition.

“Our main target is to see the WRC Safari rally final finish. That is the best we can ask for and it will come with a lot of positives,” said Nasser.
