Serbian coach Milutin Sredojevic will have a whole better meaty plan in the next 45 minutes for the Uganda Cranes.

This comes after the hosts led Liberia 1-0 at recess in the first clash of the second round of the Fifa World Cup Qualifiers at Namboole Stadium.

The Cranes took the lead inside the first five minutes courtesy a Tonny Mawejje strike.

It came from a recovery deep in defence when midfielder Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito lofted the ball to Emmanuel Okwi on the left wing.

Okwi took a brave sprint past a Liberia opponent, dazzling him to the ground before placing a through ball that met Mawejje free in the area.

The towering midfielder’s white right boot took a brilliant finish, placing the ball past the right of Lone Star custodian Nathaniel Sherman, sending large numbers into early wild celebrations.

But Cranes’ latter efforts were pegged down by good ball work from the opponents’ front men. They will still, nonetheless, look a potent threat to Robert Odongkara, who has not looked busy in the Cranes’ goal.

Victory after Chadian Andy Cordier’s final will mean the Cranes move from bottom of Group J to five points from four games in a campaign that is yet to bear good fruit.

Uganda still have two points (from 1-all draws with Angola and Senegal) and a win on the evening will be a sweet revenge to a 2-0 loss suffered in Paynesville three months ago.
