As Uganda prepares for one of the biggest names to ever embrace the African Rally Championship series to be held 0n 16-17 August 2013, top Kenyan drivers are in high spirits to attend the event.
While Ian Duncan has yet to fully confirm, Carl Tundo has already said he will take part in his first event outside Kenya since putting a great mark in the Kenya National Rally Championship and especially the Safari Rally which he has won on four different occasions.
”I am looking forward to it. It should be a different feeling and experience. I am anxious to see the fans in Ugandan, having heard and been told so much about them. I am also hoping to coincide it with a bit of holiday with family and see my sister who stays in Kampala,” said Tundo.
Duncan, one of the biggest names in the African Continent, said he is certain of taking part in the Pearl Rally though needs to tie up few ends before he can confirm his entry.
Among the top incentives offered by the Ugandans, is free transport for the rally cars to Uganda, accommodation and fuel for the rally cars.
Jas Mangat, Uganda’s top driver and winner of the recent Puma Rally of Tanzania, is said to offered the incentives to those Kenyan drivers wishing to take part in the Ugandan rally.
Other names mentioned in the scheme from the Kenyan side include, Baldev Chager and Quentin Mitchell though there were not available for comment.
It is also said several of the graduates from the Abdul Sidi Rally Academy are planning to tackle the event once they are able to raise sponsors and adequate assistance.
