Nile Special Pool Qualifiers:
Fri, 19th July: Nansana (Big Zone) & Kasangati (Afro Club)
Sat, 20th July: Diana’s Pub-Kanyanya & Kawempe (Los Angeles)
The Nile Special Open Pool Qualifiers will once again be be hosted in the central region, this time in the zone of Kawempe. Big Zone bar in Nansana and Afro Club of Kasangati will host the Friday qualifiers while Diana’s and Los Angeles’ Bars will host the Saturday Nile Special Pool action for the Northern By-pass and Kawempe playing centers respectively.
Willing participants just have to buy 2 Bottles of Nile Special Beers, register on a first come, first serve basisi and participate.The Winner at each playing Center bags 100,000 cash, a branded Nile Special and PAU Medal and a Certificate while the runners up pockets Ug shs. 50,000 and a certificate.
128 players will play at the main grand finals of the championships on 31st August at Lugogo indoor stadium. 120 players have to qualify from the country wide regions and the 8 top seeded pool players in the country have been already guaranteed a bye to the finals.
So far, 8 playing regions of Makindye, Northern Uganda, Central, Eastern, Rubaga, Mid-west, Nakawa and western have produced 82 players off 41 playing centers.
“We expect stiff competition as players book for their qualifying slots for the Grand Finale on August 31st 2013”, says Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) publicist, Michael Mawanda.
The grand finale winner drive home a brand new Toyota Progress Car, pocket Ug.Shs 2M, a pool table and will be decorated with a Pool Jacket as well as be named the Nile Special Pool Ambassador for the entire year. The latter accolade comes forth with being used as a special guest for all Nile Special events and branding for Nile Special pool event.
The Nile Special Open Pool Championships is the greatest event on the pool calendar. It is one event where the whole country participates. The event is exclusively organized by the Pool Association of Uganda and sponsored by Nile Breweries Limited, under the brand, Nile Special, “The Champion Beer”.
Alfred ‘Black Sheep’ Gumisiriza is the defending Champion.
