Quarterfinal Results: Scrap Yard vs Takers (Fans Violence abandons Tie)

Its a pity that quite often, different sporting events in the country have been disrupted by fans’ personal sentiments and selfish egos. The desire to win unprofessionally, failure to concede defeat and non respect to the fair play rules has led to many sports games being abandoned.
This week end, it was no different as one of the scheduled quarterfinal fixture between bitter rivals, Scrap Yard (the Club Knock outs defending Champions) and Takers never materialized. Fans from the two clubs exchanged bitter verbal artillery and almost fought. This led to the abandonment of the fixtures.
“As the Tournament Director am going to sit with my Committee and come out with a solution and its not going to stop us making the Draws on Monday’, says Kayanja ‘Pipo’ Robert who is the Tournament Director Pool Association of Uganda (PAU).
In the other three successful games played, Skin Samona, Kyadalu and Perfection entered the last four Teams in the Clubs Knock Out which have taken 2 Months on a Home and away Basis. Skin Samona Slashed Senior Pool League Second Placed Club Game-city on a 29 to 11 Goals aggregate.
The Wakaliga based boys, bank rolled by money Mogul, Ssalongo Kasawuli Samona of the famed ‘Samona’ beauty cream won both Legs with a 14 to 6 win at home and a 15 to 5 away.
Nansana Based side Kyadalu also flied higher when they won League One Side Club5 from Busunju on 30 to 10. Kyadalu won 13 to 7 away and 17 to 3 at away.
Perfection used their Top guns Mutawe Joseph who lost to Turigye Jonah in the Finals of the National Open and Yves Kaneza, the 2012 Easter Cup Winner to beat Kv Nyendo from Masaka 13 to 7 before Loosing 12 to 8 on Sunday Return Leg in Masaka.
Meanwhile, Champions Scrapyard and Takers shall wait for the Competitions Committee to pass the verdict ofter their two Legs of the games ended in fights.
“Clubs have enjoyed this Championship because they are given a Second Chance due to a home and away system which was introduced this year”, Mawanda Michael PAU Publicist, tells Kawowo Sports.
“This has been the best because it is the First time to Register Clubs from Gulu, Masaka and Masindi’, he adds.
Semi Finals and Finals are due to be held on Saturday 14/9/13 at Lumas starting 1pm.
