Wednesday, 16th October: MUK 2-1 Ndejje
Thursday, 17th October: Kampala University Vs MUBS (3 P.m)
At Villa Park, Nsambya.
The beautiful game of football can be an intriguing game one. With the same crop of players, former Makerere University coach, Fred Ndawula struggled to get a positive result; his squad played disjointedly and visibly struggled to get a positive result either at home or away. As a result, he was relieved of his duties and in came Deogratius Bamwenyana.
On his debut as head coach, Deogratius Bamwenyana not only picked all the 3 points against a tricky Ndejje University, but also played a great passing game full of life that most supporters dub ‘Kawowo’.
“Its about how you prepare the mentality of players. Look at Man United of Sir Alex Ferguson and that of Moyes for example. They are virutually the same players but with diferent approaches towards the game”, Bamwenyana, a sports science graduate, was overheard discussing with close associates after the game.
Following a barren first opening 45 minutes, the visitors took the lead through Steven Nsengulunva 12 minutes after restart. The goal amazed the neutralists as it was scored against the run of play.
Perhaps, Ronald Ssonko brought Bamweyana’s side level with a well struck free kick on 63 minutes before an icing on the their already baked cake as Julius Mugema netted an 80th minute strike.
Makerere University’s victory meant they rise to 4th on 16 points but still lie 13 points over the run away leaders, Kampala University. The latter will host 3rd placed Makerere University Business School (MUBS) at Villa Park Nsambya on Thursday in an epic battle likely to determine who is most likely to take the second edition of the league sponsored by Nile Special, Pepsi, Air Uganda, among others.
