Overall, Uganda's rower Grace Kathleen Noble came fifth during the race and will continue to compete for classification (Repechage).

  • Grace Kathleen Noble (Uganda) – 8:08:90 (Position 5)

It was history in the making as Ugandan rower Grace Kathleen Noble took to her boat to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

This is the second successive time that Noble is competing at the Olympic Games.

On the Nautical St Flat water body, she posted 8:08:90, her personal best time in the Olympics on Saturday, 27th July 2024.

This was during heat 1 of the women’s single scull’s event over 2000m in a competitive race won by Tara Rigney from Australia.

Rigney championed the heat with a timing of 7:30:71 to progress for the semi-finals.

Overall, Noble came fifth during the race and will continue to compete for classification (Repechage).

“I feel honored to compete at the Olympics for the second time in a row. This is a big inspiration to many Ugandan rowers out there. It is great to have improved my time and looking forward to doing well further” Noble told the media in Paris.

Diaz Virginia Rivas from Spain came second whilst South African Paige Badenhorst was third.

Rivas posted 07:37:30, Badenhorst had 07:39:19 and Iran’s Mojallaltopraghghale was fourth overall with a timing of 08:01:30.

Jarquin Gonzalez from Nicaragua finished sixth in heat one with a time of 08:23:25.

Other heats:

Netherlands’ Florjin won heat 2 with a time of 07:36:90.

Heat three was won by New Zealand’s Twigg (7:34:97). V. Senkute from Lithuania took heat four (7:30:01).

Germany’s A. Foester posted 07:36: 35 to win heat five.

Heat six was triumphed by US’ K. Kohler with a time of 07:32:46.

Besides the single scull event, there is also competition in the doubles and quadruple.

Rowing will continue until 3rd August 2024.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Uganda is also represented by a cyclist Charles Kagimu, two swimmers (Anna Gloria Muzito and Jesse Ssengonzi) as well as a bunch of athletes.
